This is some mui caliente shit that both chicas and chicos alike will love. Bershka a spanish fashion label started in 1998 has exploded on the scene with a rock-inspired collection for fall. Their use of leather, metallics and fur punishes all my sensibilities. Their interpretation of uban-chic is unapologetically sexy and rebellious!http://www.bershka.com/english/index.php

Mara Hoffman ,NY fashion designer is magical with her use of tribal silk prints in her 2010 Spring Collection. She leverages her obvious passion for nature and world travel as inspiration for this season’s pieces. She flaunts her remarkable range through her ability to kill us with everything from swimwear to cashmere coats! I love everything about her design aesthetic including the models. UH ..YEA!

Umit Benan : Cubano Links
July 3rd, 2009 · Designer File
I ran across a nice little interview Dazed Digital did on up-and-coming designer, Umit Benan. What caught my eye was the pop of color, studied yet casual lines, and slightly familiar silhouettes featured in the piece.
For S/S 10, Benan imagined a lush Cubano world, replete with wealth and privilege, and copied from the photographic work of Slim Aarons (circa 1950s – 1980s).
I investigated a bit more to see if Benan had loaded his site with his A/W 09 collection, which is as studiously casual as S/S 10:
The wearer Benan had in mind while creating his collections – definitely a Spanish don, if not by blood then by nature – will love the classic silhouettes punched up just a bit for added fun and flavor.

Shoes Clues

The recent mild weather here in the mid-west has me feeling nostalgic for a good pair of work boots. Of course there has been a resurgence in this arena and many of you already know Timberland upped the ante last year with the introduction of their Abington / Timberland Boot Co. line. Not to be outdone, Wolverine (yes…Wolverine) has reached back into their past glory days and brought to the table a rather impressive line-up of boots themselves.

I love the clean lines and sturdy construction of these boots. I’ve slept on Wolverine for years and always thought of them as a not too attractive alternative to Timberland for when your paper was not stacking right. Now they definitely deserve a second look and I’m thinking I’ll be rocking a pair of these come November.
Also coming hard is Wings+Horns with a new ill Dayton service boot slated for F/W ‘09
However I would only be fooling myself if I were to believe this mild spell to not be fleeting. With the temps set to shoot back into the nineties, some more practical options are in order:
And coming in the Fall…
Bad Lab : What It Is
June 30th, 2009 · Designer File
We here at SP usually take umbrage to the suggestion that graphic tees are a form of artistic fashion expression. The garment has become so ubiquitous that not even the infamous gorilla tee from the Christopher Kane S/S 09 collection raised our antenna [call us crazy for not covering the collection, because that tee is sick indeed!]
Perhaps we are relaxing our gt stance because when I saw the “It Is What It Is” tee from Bad Lab, I had to post a quick note. Maybe it’s because I love the cliche-ish statement, maybe the simplicity of the tee got under my skin, or maybe the entire stock at thebadlab.bigcartel.com piqued my interest…whatever the reason, gt’s are begrudgingly getting an SP mention. Other Bad Lab creations include digital posters, wallpaper and screen prints…
